What Otter.ai actually is, in its own words
Otter is the biggest name in this comparison and the least like us, so start from their description rather than a label we pin on them.
"Your AI notetaker is now also your Conversational Knowledge Engine. Otter transcribes every meeting, turning it into searchable knowledge that powers your workflow."
Otter.ai, home page, otter.ai, checked 22 Sep 2026. Quoted because "every meeting" and "searchable knowledge" are their words: the unit of the product is the archive, not the moment. The same page describes live transcription in multiple languages and speaker recognition during the call, then instant summaries with decisions, action items and insights after it. The sales use case is named and it is specific: automatic follow-ups, notes capture and CRM sync, pushing key deal details, notes and next steps that are automatically extracted. The pricing page adds an SDR Agent, which it describes as instantly engaging prospects on your site with "real-time, personalized video calls". Checked 22 Sep 2026.
Read the shape of it. Capture everything, make it searchable, extract the deal fields, push them to the CRM, write the follow-up, and now also start the conversation. It is a serious answer to a real problem and Objeq does none of it. But look at where every one of those jobs sits in time: before the conversation, or after it.
The honest version of the overlap: Business and Enterprise do include live coaching
Most comparison pages in this category cheat by pretending the other tool only works after the call. Otter's own pricing page will not let us do that, so here is their line.
"Assist: call objectives + live coaching"
Otter.ai, pricing page, listed on the Business and Enterprise plans, otter.ai/pricing, checked 22 Sep 2026. Quoted in full because it is the whole of what they say about the live moment, and because it is seven words. So the argument is about what a call objective is. An objective is set before the call: get to the decision maker, confirm the budget, book the technical review. Coaching against an objective tells the rep what they have not done yet. That is genuinely useful, and it is a checklist running down the side of a conversation.
An objection is not a missed checklist item. "It's too expensive" is almost never about money, and no objective tells the rep whether this buyer is afraid of overpaying, afraid of defending the purchase internally, or politely closing the conversation. Objeq is built around that gap. It classifies the sentence the buyer just said into one of a closed set of fears and writes one line for that fear, in that language, short enough to read and say while someone waits on the other end of the line.
We did not find the words "objection", "battlecard" or "rebuttal" on either Otter page we fetched on 22 Sep 2026. That is not a gotcha, it is the product boundary, and they have never claimed otherwise.
The uncomfortable part: they publish a price and it is a fifth of ours
Almost nobody in this category publishes a number. Otter does, on otter.ai/pricing, fetched 22 Sep 2026, and we are going to put the whole ladder here rather than quietly compare ourselves to the expensive end.
Basic, $0. 300 monthly transcription minutes, 3 lifetime audio or video file imports, Zoom, Teams and Google Meet, speaker identification.
Pro, $16.99 a user a month, or $8.33 billed annually. 1200 in-app recording minutes, 10 monthly imports, up to 90 minutes a meeting, Salesforce, HubSpot and Zapier.
Business, $30 a user a month, or $19.99 annually. Unlimited meetings and in-app recordings, unlimited imports, up to 4 hours a meeting, activity logs, usage analytics, 3 concurrent meetings, and the Assist live coaching line above.
Enterprise, custom, with a demo, unlimited custom AI workflows, SSO and SCIM, and API access.
Ours is on our pricing page and has not moved: $99 a seat a month for Starter, $149 for Pro, three day trial, cancel in one click.
That is a real gap and it deserves a real answer. You are not paying five times more for five times the transcription. You are paying for a different thing being bought. Otter is priced like infrastructure, per minute of audio, spread across a whole company, and at that price it should be. Objeq is priced against one seller's quota. If one line said differently closes one extra deal a quarter, the seat has paid for itself many times over, and if it does not, $99 is a bad deal at any discount. That is the trade, stated plainly, and we would rather you test it in three days than argue about it.

Where Otter is the right answer and we are not
You need the record. Searchable history of every call, summaries you can forward, action items assigned. We have none of it and are not building it.
Budget is the constraint. Free to $30 a seat against $99 is not a rounding difference. At twenty seats that is the difference between a line item and a conversation with finance.
Your reps lose hours to the CRM. Deal fields extracted and synced automatically is the problem Otter attacks hardest. Objeq will not save you a single minute of admin.
Your meetings are not sales calls. Most of Otter's value is in meetings with no buyer in them at all. Objeq has nothing to say in a standup.
Your calls are not in a browser tab. If reps work in a native desktop softphone there is nothing for a Chrome extension to hear. That is a hard limit of how Objeq works, not a roadmap item.
Who is left, and why we exist at all
Strip out everything above and a specific team is standing there.
Two to five sellers, no enablement function, no RevOps. They probably already have a notetaker, and it has not changed a single call. Reading the transcript on Thursday does not help the call that went wrong on Tuesday, and nobody on a five person team is going back through the archive. They do not have a knowledge problem, they have a twenty second problem. A buyer says something the rep was not ready for, and what comes out of the rep's mouth next decides the deal. That window is too short to search anything.
If that is your team, the right move is probably both. Keep Otter for the record at $16.99, and put one Objeq seat on the calls that actually carry money.
How to settle it without a quarter of demos
Every vendor demo in this category is staged, including ours, and we say so on the facts page. Here is a test that does not depend on anyone's demo.
1. Open your last ten Otter transcripts. You have them, that is the point of Otter. Find the moment in each call where the deal turned.
2. Ask what you did with that information. If the honest answer is nothing, the archive is not the bottleneck and a bigger archive will not become one.
3. Write down the five sentences the buyer said at those moments. Not categories. The sentences, in their words.
4. Decide which problem is costing you more: the hour a day your reps lose to notes and CRM fields, or the deals that turn on one sentence. If it is the hour, buy Otter and mean it. We do.
5. Type those five sentences into a live copilot and read what comes back. Not the marketing answer, the actual line. You can do that on our demo in a minute without giving anyone an email address.
What we can prove, and what we cannot
We can put the price, the seat minimum, the setup time and the behaviour in the objection moment in writing, dated, on the facts page. We cannot show you a customer outcome study, we have no published win-rate figure, and Otter is a vastly larger company with a vastly broader product. Everything quoted from their site above is linked and dated to 22 Sep 2026. Where we could not check something, such as their supported language list, we said so instead of filling the gap with a guess.

FAQ
What does Otter.ai cost compared to Objeq?
Otter publishes its prices, which most tools in this category do not, and they are far lower than ours. Fetched from otter.ai/pricing on 22 September 2026: Basic is free with 300 monthly transcription minutes and 3 lifetime file imports; Pro is $16.99 per user per month, or $8.33 billed annually, with 1200 in-app recording minutes, 10 monthly imports and a 90 minute cap per meeting; Business is $30 per user per month, or $19.99 annually, with unlimited meetings, a 4 hour cap and 3 concurrent meetings; Enterprise is custom and needs a demo. Objeq is $99 a seat a month for Starter and $149 for Pro, on the pricing page, with a three day trial. We are three to six times the price of Otter Business and we are not going to argue that away. We are not selling transcription minutes. If minutes are what you need, Otter is cheaper and better at it.
Does Otter.ai coach the rep during a live call?
Partly, and we are not going to hide it. The Otter pricing page lists "Assist: call objectives + live coaching" on the Business and Enterprise plans, checked 22 September 2026. So this is not a during versus after comparison the way it is with a pure recorder. The difference is the unit. Otter is built around the meeting as a record: its home page calls the product a "Conversational Knowledge Engine" and says Otter "transcribes every meeting, turning it into searchable knowledge that powers your workflow". Objection handling is not a named job anywhere on the two pages we fetched. Objeq is built around one twenty second window: the buyer says something, Objeq classifies the fear behind it and writes a single line for the rep to say, visible only to them.
Does Otter.ai support Hebrew?
Not as far as we can tell. Otter's home page says "live transcription in multiple languages" without naming them, checked 22 September 2026, and their help centre article on supported languages returns HTTP 403 to our fetcher, so we could not read it ourselves. What is reported from that article, and repeated consistently across third party write-ups in 2026, is six languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese and Chinese (Simplified). Hebrew is not among them. Treat that as reported rather than verified by us, and ask Otter before deciding on it. On our side, Objeq's Hebrew is native rather than translated, covering live transcription, objection detection and the whisper itself, because roughly 99 percent of real Objeq usage is Hebrew calls.
Can I run Otter.ai and Objeq on the same call?
Nothing in how Objeq works stops you, and this is the pairing that makes the most sense of any on our comparison pages, because the two do not compete for the same job. Otter keeps the record, writes the summary and pushes the deal details to the CRM. Objeq writes one line while the buyer is still talking and then gets out of the way. Objeq is a Chrome extension that listens to the browser tab the call plays in; it does not join the meeting as a participant and writes nothing to any CRM, so it has nothing to collide with. We have not run a tested integration and we will not claim one.
Is Otter.ai a sales tool or a meeting tool?
Both, and the sales half is newer. Otter's home page describes a Sales Agent use case in terms of "automatic follow-ups, notes capture, and CRM sync", pushing key deal details, notes and next steps that are automatically extracted. The pricing page goes further with an SDR Agent, which it describes as instantly engaging prospects on your site with "real-time, personalized video calls". Checked 22 September 2026. Read the list and the shape is clear: capture, extract, sync, reach out. Every one of those happens either before the conversation or after it. The moment the buyer says something the rep was not ready for is not on that list.
