Objeq vs Cresta in 2026, and why both coach live but only one will sell you a seat

Updated September 14, 2026 · By the Objeq team

Short answer. Both of these help the person on the call while the call is still happening, so the usual comparison-page trick of saying the other one only works afterwards does not apply here. The split is who you are. Cresta is a contact center platform: it plugs into your telephony, reads your knowledge base, coaches agents at scale and comes with an implementation. It publishes no per-seat price at all, and the only public numbers attached to it are $150,000 twelve-month AWS Marketplace contracts. Objeq is a Chrome extension side panel at $99 to $149 per seat per month, published, one seat, no minimum, and it only works if the call plays in a browser tab. If you run a 200-agent floor on a native softphone, buy Cresta and stop reading. If you have five reps on Meet, Zoom or a browser dialer, Cresta will not sell to you and this page is about what to do instead.

Cresta really does coach during the call

We are not going to build a page on the claim that Cresta is a recorder. It is not. Here is its own description of what happens while the customer is still talking.

"Cresta Agent Assist proactively identifies knowledge moments and surfaces instant, source-backed answers based on live conversation and on-screen context."

Cresta, Agent Assist product page, cresta.com/product/agent-assist, checked 14 Sep 2026. Quoted because it is the vendor's own account of the live moment, and that moment is what this comparison turns on.

The same page adds that it "detects the moments that matter, a churn signal, a compliance trigger, a revenue opportunity, and delivers targeted guidance designed to drive a specific outcome", and that "Agent Assist recommends, the human decides". That last sentence is close to how we describe Objeq, and we would rather point at it than pretend we invented the idea.

The difference is not live versus not live. It is retrieval versus composition, and continuous versus quiet

Cresta surfaces a source-backed answer. There is a knowledge base behind it: your help center, your policies, your approved wording. The system spots a knowledge moment and pulls the right passage forward. That is the correct design for a contact center, where the right answer usually already exists in writing and the risk is an agent inventing one.

Objeq has no knowledge base to pull from. It listens to both sides, works out the fear sitting behind the sentence the buyer just said, and writes a treatment for that sentence. One retrieves, the other composes. In a support queue retrieval wins, because being right matters more than being original. In a sales call the objection is often personal and badly phrased, and there is no passage in any document that answers it.

There is a second difference and it is the one we care about most. Cresta's product is built to assist throughout: live summaries "update continuously during the conversation", reply suggestions for chat and email, guidance on every moment that matters. Objeq is built to stay out of the way. Discovery, small talk and the two minutes where somebody's audio is broken get silence. The panel is supposed to be empty most of the call and to speak when the buyer starts leaving.

That last paragraph is a design claim about how Objeq is built, not a measured statistic. We do not publish a percentage for how often it stays quiet, because we do not have a customer-scale number we would stand behind.

Where a vendor does not publish a price we say so and link the third-party source, instead of printing a number as if it came from the vendor.

If you searched for a service rep coaching tool, read this part

"Coaching tool for service reps" pulls up two very different products and the search results do not tell you which one you are looking at.

If your reps are agents on a queue, handling volume in a native client, measured on handle time and QA scores, then you want the contact center category: Cresta, Observe.AI, Balto. They integrate with your telephony, they score every interaction, and they are bought once a year with a procurement process. Objeq does none of that and we will not waste your quarter pretending otherwise.

If your "service reps" are a small team on browser calls, renewals, upsells, account saves, five to twenty people on Meet or a browser dialer, then the contact center vendors are not an option. They will not quote you, and a $60,000 floor price for eight people is not a negotiation. That is the gap Objeq is in: one seat, a published price, and a live line when the customer says the thing that ends the call.

Where Cresta is the right answer and we are not

You need the knowledge base in the loop. If the correct answer is a policy, a refund rule or a compliance script, retrieval from a governed source beats anything generated. That is Cresta's design and it is the right one.

You need chat and email, not just voice. Cresta generates reply suggestions across channels. Objeq only exists inside a live call.

You need QA over every interaction. Scoring the floor, proving the disclosure was read, reporting to a quality team. Objeq does not do that. Cresta and Balto do.

How to settle it without a quarter of demos

Every vendor demo in this category is staged, including ours, and we say so on the facts page. Here is a test that does not depend on anyone's demo.

1. Ask where your calls actually live. Browser tab or native client. This single answer removes one of these two products from your list before you talk to a salesperson.

2. Write down the last three sentences that killed a call. The exact words, including the awkward part.

3. Ask whether a document already answers them. If yes, you want retrieval and Cresta is built for that. If the honest answer is "nobody ever wrote that down", retrieval has nothing to retrieve.

4. Type those sentences into a live copilot and read what comes back. Not the marketing answer, the actual line. You can do that on our demo in a minute without giving anyone an email address.

What we can prove, and what we cannot

We have no customer outcome study, no published close-rate result, and the demonstrations on this site are staged and labelled. Cresta is an enterprise platform with named Fortune-500 deployments and a track record we cannot match. If your shortlist is decided on vendor scale, that comparison is not close and we are not going to dress it up. What we can put in writing is the price, the seat minimum, the setup time and what happens in the moment the customer pushes back. Those are on the facts page, dated, and that page overrules every other page on this site when they disagree.

The rest of the cluster

Sales instead of service: Objeq vs Gong and Objeq vs Chorus by ZoomInfo. The other live coaching tool built for floors: Objeq vs Balto. Everything that coaches during the call, with what each one needs to run: real-time agent coaching platforms. All eight tools in one sourced table: the sales coaching software comparison. The category root: sales coaching tools and the three jobs.

FAQ

Does Cresta coach agents in real time?

Yes. Cresta's own Agent Assist page says it "proactively identifies knowledge moments and surfaces instant, source-backed answers based on live conversation and on-screen context", and that it detects moments that matter such as a churn signal, a compliance trigger or a revenue opportunity. Checked 14 September 2026. Cresta is a genuine live coaching product, not a post-call recorder.

How much does Cresta cost?

Cresta publishes no rate card and no per-seat price. Its Agent Assist page ends in "Book a demo". The only public numbers attached to it are its AWS Marketplace listings: a 12-month Agent Assist for Voice contract for up to 100,000 calls at $150,000, and Agent Assist for Chat for up to 125,000 chats at $150,000, with overage at $1.50 per call and $1.20 per chat. Checked 14 September 2026. Objeq publishes $99 Starter and $149 Pro per seat per month with no seat minimum.

Can a five-person team buy Cresta?

In practice no. Cresta is sold as a contact center deployment with an implementation phase, priced against call and chat volume rather than per seat. A five-person team is not a small Cresta customer, it is outside the shape of the product. Objeq starts at one seat with a 3-day trial and a published price.

Does Objeq work in a contact center?

Only if the calls play in a Chrome tab. Objeq is a Chrome extension side panel and it hears the call through the browser tab. If your agents work in a desktop softphone or a native contact center client, there is no tab to listen to and Objeq is the wrong tool. That is a hard limit, not a roadmap item.

What is the difference in what lands on the agent's screen?

Cresta retrieves a source-backed answer from your knowledge base when it spots a knowledge moment, and syncs a live summary to the CRM. Objeq composes a treatment for the objection that was actually spoken, and it is designed to stay silent through discovery, small talk and technical glitches instead of assisting continuously. Both leave the human in control of whether to use the line.
