The two halves, named out loud
Read a vendor's feature list and sort every line into one of these two columns. Most lists fall almost entirely into one.
| The performance layer | The coaching layer |
|---|---|
| Quota attainment, pacing, pipeline snapshots | What the rep says when the buyer objects |
| Leaderboards, contests, TV dashboards | The response to the sentence just spoken |
| Scorecards and call-grading rubrics | Live guidance on the screen mid-call |
| Coaching cadences, one-to-one agendas, pre-reads | Objection treatment, structure, tone |
| Who the manager should spend Thursday with | What happens in the next eleven seconds |
| Unit of work: the week and the quarter | Unit of work: the moment |
Both are real purchases. They are also not substitutes, and no amount of dashboard improves what comes out of a rep's mouth at 3pm on a Tuesday when the buyer says something nobody wrote a card for.
The performance layer, with the numbers
Ambition. Its pricing page publishes three tiers and names them after what they do: Starter is "Seller Activation" at $45 per user per month, Pro is "Coaching Orchestration" at $65 and marked most popular, and Enterprise is "Revenue Execution System" at $75. AI Insights is a $5 per user per month add-on and AI Actions is $4, with additional AI credits purchasable beyond the allocation. Pro and Enterprise add coaching pre-reads, calendar sync and pipeline snapshot; Enterprise adds coaching analytics and skills. And the line most comparison articles leave out: "Ambition contracts are structured annually, with a two-year term as our standard." (ambition.com/pricing, read 1 Oct 2026. Quotes are the vendor's own words.)
That is a well-built product with an honest price page, which in this category makes it unusual. Note what the word "coaching" is doing in "Coaching Orchestration": it is the orchestration of a manager's coaching programme, not a line delivered to a rep mid-call.
Mindtickle. No price anywhere on the site. The call to action is Book a demo. Its own words for the coaching product are "Level up your teams with AI coaching" and "Develop reps with proven top-performer skills", and nothing on the home page describes real-time guidance during a live call. (mindtickle.com, read 1 Oct 2026. We read the published pages and did not run a trial, so this page reports what the vendor says, not what the product does.)
Gong. Records, transcribes and analyses after the call, then feeds the manager's review. Its pricing page lists per-user licenses plus a platform fee based on the number of users, with no figure attached to either. (gong.io/pricing, checked 12 Sep 2026. See Objeq vs Gong and Gong alternatives.)
The coaching layer, and the clock that splits it
Once you are shopping for the rep's half rather than the manager's, one question separates every product: when does the help reach the rep. Composed during the call, fired during the call from a card someone wrote in advance, or delivered after the call as a summary. We took eleven tools apart on exactly that question on the real-time call coaching page, with prices and dates.
The short version. Objeq composes the line while the buyer is still talking: it hears both sides through the Chrome tab, detects the fear underneath the objection, and whispers a 7-step treatment to the rep in under two seconds, in Hebrew and English. Nothing is authored in advance. $99 Starter and $149 Pro per seat per month, monthly, no seat minimum, no platform fee, 3-day trial with the card up front. The hard limit is the tab: the call has to run in a Chrome tab on a computer, so a desk phone has nothing to listen to. (Objeq facts, last verified 11 Sep 2026, and Objeq pricing.)
"Best free alternatives", answered honestly
This is the search that brought a lot of people to this page, so here is the real answer rather than a list of trials.
Nothing free does the performance layer. Quotas, comp, scorecards, leaderboards and coaching workflow are sold on annual contracts by companies that publish either a per-seat number with a two-year term or no number at all. There is no free tier of that, and a spreadsheet plus a weekly one-to-one is the free version people actually use.
What is free is the capture layer, and it is genuinely good now.
- Fathom: free tier. Joins or listens to the meeting, transcribes it, hands you a summary, action items and clips when the call ends. Its own page says summaries are instantly available after your call. (fathom.video, checked 21 Sep 2026. See Objeq vs Fathom.)
- Otter.ai: Basic is free, Pro $16.99 a user a month, Business $30. Live transcription and speaker recognition during the call, summaries and action items after it. (otter.ai, checked 22 Sep 2026. See Objeq vs Otter.ai.)
- Sybill: free plan, then $30 and $90 per user per month annual, plus a 14-day Business trial with no card. Summaries, pre-meeting briefs, follow-up emails, CRM autofill. Nothing published about anything happening during the live call. (sybill.ai/pricing, checked 11 Sep 2026. See Objeq vs Sybill.)
So the honest zero-budget stack is a free notetaker plus a manager who actually listens to the recordings. That covers review. It does not cover the live moment, and no free product in this category covers the live moment, ours included: there is no free Objeq tier, only a 3-day trial with the card up front. The full breakdown of what each free tier does and does not do is on the free sales coaching software page.
Five products, two halves, published prices
| Tool | Which half | Published price | Contract |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ambition | Performance layer, plus coaching orchestration for managers | $45 / $65 / $75 per user per month, plus $5 AI Insights and $4 AI Actions | "Structured annually, with a two-year term as our standard" |
| Mindtickle | Enablement and readiness, manager-side coaching | None. Book a demo | Not published |
| Gong | Review and analytics after the call | None. Per-user licenses plus a platform fee | Not published |
| Sybill | Capture and admin around the meeting | Free plan, then $30 and $90 per user per month annual | Monthly or annual, published |
| Objeq | Coaching layer only, during the live call | $99 and $149 per seat per month, no seat minimum, no platform fee | Monthly, cancel in one click |
Two of the five publish no price at all. Where a vendor publishes nothing we say so and name the page we read, instead of printing a third-party estimate as if the vendor had said it.
What Objeq is not, so nobody buys the wrong thing
We do not sell a performance layer and we are not going to pretend the word "coaching" makes us a substitute for one.
- No quota, comp or territory management. No attainment pacing, no commission engine, no forecast.
- No leaderboards or contests for the floor TV. There is a manager dashboard and a leaderboard on Pro, and they are about objections handled, not revenue attainment.
- No enablement or certification programme. No courses, no role-play curriculum, no readiness scoring. If you need onboarding at scale, Mindtickle's category is the right category.
- No deal intelligence. Gong and Clari do that and we do not.
- No calls outside a Chrome tab. Desk phones and native softphones are out. See the facts page for the exact list of what works.
What is left is narrow on purpose: the eleven seconds after a buyer says something the rep was not ready for. If that moment is not what is costing you deals, buy the other half first.

FAQ
What are the best free alternatives to sales performance coaching software?
There is no free product that does the manager performance layer: quotas, comp, leaderboards and coaching workflow are all sold on annual contracts. What is free is the recording and summary layer. Fathom has a free tier, Otter Basic is free, and Sybill has a free plan. All three capture the call and summarise it afterwards, which covers the part of coaching that is about reviewing what happened. None of them scores a rep against a quota, and none of them helps the rep during the call. If the budget is zero, that combination is the honest answer: a free notetaker plus a manager who listens to the recordings.
What is sales performance coaching software?
The phrase covers two different purchases. The performance layer is for the manager: quota attainment, leaderboards, scorecards, coaching cadences, one-to-one agendas and dashboards that roll up to a forecast. The coaching layer is for the rep: what to say, and when. Most vendors sell one of the two and name the page after both, which is why buyers end up with a dashboard when the problem was that nobody knew what to say on the call.
How much does sales performance coaching software cost?
Ambition publishes $45, $65 and $75 per user per month for Seller Activation, Coaching Orchestration and Revenue Execution System, plus optional AI Insights at $5 and AI Actions at $4 per user per month, and states that contracts are structured annually with a two-year term as its standard (ambition.com/pricing, checked 1 Oct 2026). Mindtickle publishes no price and routes you to Book a demo (mindtickle.com, checked 1 Oct 2026). Gong publishes no price either, listing per-user licenses plus a platform fee based on the number of users (gong.io/pricing, checked 12 Sep 2026). Objeq publishes $99 Starter and $149 Pro per seat per month, monthly, no seat minimum and no platform fee, and it only does the live coaching half.
Does sales performance coaching software help the rep during the call?
Almost never, and it is not pretending to. The performance suites work on the week and the quarter: a coaching cadence, a scorecard, a one-to-one agenda built from last month's calls. That is a real job. It just does nothing at the second a buyer says something the rep was not ready for. Live help during the call is a separate product category with a separate price tag.
What is the contract length on these tools?
Longer than the monthly number suggests, and this is the line to read before you compare prices. Ambition states on its own pricing page that contracts are structured annually with a two-year term as its standard (checked 1 Oct 2026). Vendors that publish no price at all generally quote annual minimums too. Objeq is monthly per seat with no seat minimum and no platform fee, which is a smaller product sold a smaller way, not a better deal on the same thing.
