Objeq vs Fathom in 2026: Fathom tells you what happened on the call, Objeq tells you what to say while it is happening

Updated September 21, 2026 · By the Objeq team

Short answer. Fathom is an AI notetaker. It joins or listens to the meeting, transcribes it, and hands you a summary, action items and clips when the call ends. Its own home page says summaries are "instantly available after your call". Objeq is a copilot inside the call. It installs as a Chrome extension, hears both sides through the browser tab, works out the fear behind the sentence the buyer just said, and writes the line on the rep's screen while the buyer is still talking, visible only to the rep. Neither one replaces the other. Fathom owns the record of the meeting and does it better than we ever will, for free. Objeq owns the twenty seconds after a buyer says something the rep was not ready for, which no summary can reach, because by the time the summary exists the call is over and the deal already went whichever way it went.

What Fathom actually is, in its own words

Fathom is a very good product with an enormous user base, and this comparison is more useful if it starts from their description rather than ours.

"AI notetaking that is out of this world. Fathom summarizes your meetings so you can focus on the conversation. Now available bot-free."

Fathom, home page, fathom.video, checked 21 Sep 2026. Quoted because "notetaking" is their word, not a label we pinned on them.

The same page says Fathom is used at 300K+ companies, that summaries save 38 minutes per meeting on average, and that your meeting data now flows into ChatGPT, Claude and other tools. Those are the vendor's own figures on the vendor's own site and we have not audited them. A banner across the top of the page on 21 Sep 2026 also says Fathom is now part of Superhuman, which is worth knowing if you are signing anything longer than a month.

Read the shape of it. Capture, transcribe, summarize, search, ask questions later, push to the CRM. Every one of those verbs happens to a conversation that already finished.

The one word on their site that decides this comparison

If you read one line from Fathom before choosing, read this one, and read the last two words twice.

"AI summaries instantly available after your call."

Fathom, home page, fathom.video, checked 21 Sep 2026. Quoted because of the word after.

"Instantly" is real and it is a genuine engineering achievement. It is also measured from the moment the call ends. That is not a criticism of Fathom, it is the definition of a notetaker: the artifact is the record, and a record cannot exist until there is something to record.

Here is why that matters for a seller. Deals are not usually lost in the review. They are lost in the live moment when a buyer says "we already have something like this" or "send me pricing and I'll discuss it internally", and the rep says the acceptable, forgettable thing instead of the one that opens the door. A perfect transcript of that moment, delivered four minutes later, tells you exactly how you lost it. Objeq is trying to change what gets said in the moment itself. That is a harder problem and a much narrower product, and it is the only thing we do.

Where Fathom's coaching lives, and what it costs

Fathom does sell coaching. It is worth being precise about which tier it is in and what shape it takes, because "coaching" is doing a lot of work in this category.

Business, $34 /month / per user (2 user min): "Everything from Team. CRM field sync, updating records after meetings automatically. Deal View summarizing insights. Coaching metrics & AI scorecards. Advanced call summaries, including custom summaries."

Fathom, pricing page, fathom.video/pricing, checked 21 Sep 2026. $25 per user on annual billing.

A scorecard is a judgement about a call that already ended. For a manager running a weekly review across eight reps, that is the correct instrument, and Objeq has nothing like it. For a rep mid-sentence, a scorecard is worth nothing, because it arrives in the wrong hour.

The rest of the price list, also checked 21 Sep 2026: Free forever for individuals with unlimited recordings, transcriptions, instant AI summaries, clips and search. Premium $20 per user per month, $16 annual, adding advanced summaries, AI action items and the conversational assistant. Team $19 per user per month, $15 annual, two user minimum. Enterprise on a call. There is a 90 day guarantee on the paid tiers.

The uncomfortable part: they have a free tier and we cost $99

We are not going to argue our way around that, so let us put it plainly.

If what you want is a record of your meetings, Fathom's free plan is better value than anything we sell, and it is not close. Unlimited recordings and instant summaries for zero dollars is a serious offer. Any comparison page that tries to talk you out of that is selling, not helping.

What $99 a seat buys is a different minute. It is a model listening to a live call, deciding in the moment that the sentence it just heard is an objection and not small talk, working out what the buyer is actually afraid of, and producing a line short enough for a human to read and say while someone is waiting on the other end. That is compute during the call, every call, and it is the reason the price is not zero. If your reps are already winning the objection moment and just want their notes written up, do not pay us. Install Fathom and get on with your day.

Where Fathom is the right answer and we are not

You need the record. Handoffs, compliance, onboarding, a CS team that has to know what sales promised. A searchable archive of every conversation is worth more than any in-call tip, and we do not have one.

Your budget is zero. Free forever with unlimited recordings is a real product, not a teaser. Take it.

Your reps forget to follow up. Action items and CRM field sync fix an admin problem that costs real deals. Objeq does not touch your CRM at all.

You want manager scorecards across a team. Coaching metrics on the Business tier are built for exactly that. Objeq produces no team score and no leaderboard.

Your calls are not in a browser tab. If reps work in a native desktop softphone, there is nothing for a Chrome extension to hear. That is a hard limit of how Objeq works, not a roadmap item.

Who is left, and why we exist at all

Strip out everything above and a specific team is standing there.

Two to five sellers. They already record their calls, probably with Fathom, and they have read the summaries. They know exactly which sentence killed each of the last five deals, because the transcript told them in clean English. And knowing did not help, because the next call produced a new sentence nobody had prepared for. That team does not have a measurement problem. It has a performance problem inside a twenty second window, and the only thing that touches that window is something that speaks while the window is open.

If you are that team, keep the notetaker. Put one $99 seat on the calls you already have and see whether the next ten objections go differently.

How to settle it without a quarter of demos

Every vendor demo in this category is staged, including ours, and we say so on the facts page. Here is a test that does not depend on anyone's demo.

1. Open the last five deals you lost and find the sentence where each one turned. If you run a notetaker you already have these. If you do not, that is your answer for this month: go install the free one.

2. Ask what the summary told you that you did not already know. Usually it confirms what the rep felt. Confirmation is useful once, not weekly.

3. Ask what the rep would have needed at that exact second. Not a report. A sentence.

4. Ask whether anybody was going to hand them that sentence. In a team of three with no enablement function, nobody was.

5. Type those five sentences into a live copilot and read what comes back. Not the marketing answer, the actual line. You can do that on our demo in a minute without giving anyone an email address.

What we can prove, and what we cannot

We can put the price, the seat minimum, the setup time and the behaviour in the objection moment in writing, dated, on the facts page. We cannot show you a customer outcome study, we have no published win-rate figure, and we are a far smaller company than Fathom with a far narrower product. Everything quoted from their site above is linked and dated to 21 Sep 2026. Where we did not check something, such as their supported language list, we said so instead of filling the gap with a guess.

FAQ

Does Fathom coach a rep during the live call?

Not in the sense of telling you what to say next. Fathom describes itself as "AI notetaking" and says on its home page that it "summarizes your meetings so you can focus on the conversation", with "AI summaries instantly available after your call". Checked 21 September 2026. The word that decides this comparison is after. Fathom records and transcribes while you talk and hands you the summary, action items and clips when the call ends. Objeq works in the other direction: it reads the sentence the buyer just said, works out the fear behind it, and writes the line on the rep's screen while the buyer is still on the call.

Fathom has a free plan and Objeq costs $99. Why would anyone pay?

Because they buy different minutes, and we are not going to pretend our price beats free. Fathom's free forever plan gives you unlimited recordings, transcriptions and instant AI summaries, checked 21 September 2026 on its pricing page, and that is a genuinely good deal for anyone who wants a record of the meeting. It does not help the rep in the twenty seconds after a buyer says something they were not ready for, because nothing post-call can. Objeq costs $99 a seat a month because it is doing work inside that twenty seconds. If your problem is note-taking, do not pay us, install Fathom.

Where does Fathom's coaching live and what does it cost?

On the Fathom pricing page, "Coaching metrics & AI scorecards" are listed under the Business tier at $34 per user per month, $25 on annual billing, with a two user minimum. Checked 21 September 2026. The lower tiers, Free, Premium at $20 and Team at $19, carry summaries, action items and the conversational assistant rather than coaching metrics. A scorecard is a judgement about a call that already ended, which is exactly the right shape for a manager reviewing the week and exactly the wrong shape for a rep who needs a sentence right now.

Can I run Fathom and Objeq on the same call?

Yes, and for a lot of teams that is the sensible answer. They are not competing for the same job. Fathom captures the meeting and gives you the record afterwards. Objeq sits in the Chrome tab, listens to both sides and whispers to the rep during the call, visible only to them. One is the memory, the other is the help in the moment. Nothing in how Objeq works requires you to drop your notetaker, and we would rather say that than sell you a replacement for a tool you like.

Does Fathom support Hebrew?

We do not know and we will not guess. The two Fathom pages we fetched on 21 September 2026, the home page and the pricing page, make no claim about Hebrew either way, and we did not pull its help centre language list. Ask their team before you decide on that basis. What we can put on the record is our own side: Objeq's Hebrew is native rather than translated, covering live transcription, objection detection and the whisper itself, because roughly 99 percent of real Objeq usage is Hebrew calls.
