Gong vs Outreach in 2026: only one of them talks to the rep while the call is happening

Every claim below read off gong.io and outreach.ai on September 28, 2026, and quoted rather than summarised · By the Objeq team

Short answer. Both are large revenue platforms, both record and analyse calls, and on most feature lists they look like twins. The clean way to separate them is when they help a rep. Outreach helps during the call. Its own conversation intelligence page says Outreach Kaia™ "joins and records live meetings, captures real-time transcription, and delivers on-demand confidence with live battlecards." Gong helps around the call. Every coaching feature on the Gong Enable page happens before the meeting (Dry Run, "practice every upcoming customer meeting through live AI role-play before it happens") or after it (AI Call Reviewer, the Coaching inbox, AI Trainer built on "past conversations"). Neither publishes a price. Gong's pricing page carries no dollar figure; Outreach says "Request Pricing" on every package. If you want the in-call moment, that is Outreach's claim and not Gong's. If you want the analytics and forecasting layer, Gong is the one that built the category.

What Outreach says about the live moment

"Outreach Kaia™ joins sales meetings and calls live, supporting reps in the moment to handle tough buyer questions without their manager's presence."

"Guide customer conversations in real time with AI-powered battle cards, objection handling, and action-item detection."

Outreach, conversation intelligence page, outreach.ai/platform/conversation-intelligence, read 28 September 2026. We quote it in full because it is accurate and because most write-ups of this comparison get it backwards.

The qualifier is one word on a different Outreach page, and it is the word that decides whether this helps you. Kaia's in-call help is delivered as "enablement-created content cards generated in live meetings" (Outreach rep coaching page, read 26 September 2026). Somebody on your team writes the card, and the card has to already exist. That is genuinely useful for the eight objections your enablement lead predicted. The ninth one, phrased in a way nobody wrote down, has no card.

What Gong says about coaching, and why none of it is during the call

We opened the Gong Enable page specifically looking for an in-call claim, because finding one would have killed this page. It is not there. Here is the full list of coaching mechanisms Gong names on that page, with Gong's own timing words:

"AI Call Reviewer + Coaching inbox — Pinpoint skill gaps from real conversations."

"AI Trainer + AI Coach + Lessons — Scale coaching with AI role-play. Turn past conversations into realistic training scenarios."

"Dry Run — Practice the meeting before it happens. Practice every upcoming customer meeting through live AI role-play before it happens."

Gong, Gong Enable, gong.io/platform/sales-enablement-software, read 28 September 2026.

The only place the word "live" appears is Dry Run, and Gong's own sentence puts it before the real meeting. "Past conversations", "before it happens", "after every session". Gong built the post-call analytics category and it is very good at it. It is simply not selling an in-call prompt, and any article that tells you Gong whispers to a rep mid-call is describing a product Gong does not describe.

Neither one will tell you the price

This is the finding most comparison pages skip, usually by quoting a dollar figure with no source attached. We looked at both pricing pages on the same morning. There is no number on either.

"Licenses are priced per user. There is a platform fee based on the number of users supported. You can integrate your existing tech stack for free."

Gong, gong.io/pricing, read 28 September 2026. The page's first form question is "How big is your team?", with bands 1-50, 51-1,000, 1,001-9,999 and 10,000+.

"Request Pricing." · "Outreach uses a combination of seat-based pricing and consumption-based pricing powered by AI credits."

Outreach, outreach.ai/pricing, read 28 September 2026. Same string on every Amplify package.

Plan for a sales conversation and a custom quote with both. And on Outreach, confirm which package carries the live coaching before you sign: on the feature grid we read on 26 September 2026, "Live Coaching: Real-time Content Cards" sits under Amplify Essentials and Amplify Plus and is absent from Amplify Core. The packages are not a straight ladder, so the cheaper one can carry the feature the pricier-sounding one does not.

If you sell in a language other than English

Both companies publish translation, and both publish it for the artifacts. Gong's language support page claims "70+ languages" and describes AI Translator as "translating AI-generated insights instantly"; the customer quote Gong chose for that page is about reading "meeting summaries in English". Outreach publishes "Kaia™ Translations" for "translating call or meeting summaries and transcripts". Neither publishes a language list for the in-call assistance itself. That is an absence of a claim rather than a claim of absence, and it is the first question to ask both sales teams if your calls are not in English.

So which one should you buy

Buy against the failure you actually have, because these two are not really answering the same question.

Your forecast is fiction and nobody knows what happened on the calls. That is Gong. Revenue Graph, Forecast, the analytics depth and the largest review base in the category exist for exactly that problem, and Objeq does not try to replace that layer.

Your reps have no system of record and the outbound motion is held together by a spreadsheet. That is Outreach. Sequences, pipeline and engagement are the product, and the live battlecards ride along with them.

Your reps are on plenty of calls and lose them at minute four. Neither platform is built for that minute, and that is the one thing Objeq does. It is a Chrome extension, it reads the objection that was actually said instead of matching a card written in advance, it publishes its price, and it runs in Hebrew end to end. It writes nothing to your CRM and replaces nothing on this page, so it is an addition and not a swap.

Questions people ask next

Can you run Gong and Outreach together?

Plenty of teams do, and both publish integration pages that assume you have other tools. Gong's pricing page even says you can integrate your existing tech stack for free. The overlap is conversation intelligence, so you would be paying twice for recording and transcription. Decide which one owns the call recording before you sign the second contract.

Is Gong the bigger company?

By public footprint on their own sites, Gong claims "trusted by 5,000+ customers" and leads the review platforms it cites on its pricing page. Outreach describes itself as the AI Agent Platform for Revenue teams. Neither publishes a customer count we can compare like for like, so we will not rank them by size.

Do either of them come as a browser extension?

Both ship Chrome extensions, and both are built around reaching their own platform from your inbox or CRM tab rather than coaching the call. We opened 20 vendors' Chrome Web Store listings and wrote down what each extension actually does on our sales coaching Chrome extensions page.

Where can I read the head-to-head against Objeq?

Each one has its own page, with the same quote-and-date rule as this one: Objeq vs Gong and Objeq vs Outreach.
